Nicolette Mireles, MA, LCPC

Welcome! I am glad you’re here.

Life can be incredibly beautiful and it can also be pretty tough sometimes. You don’t always have an influence over what happens to you, but you do have a choice in what you do next. My role as a therapist is to help you navigate life’s challenges by focusing on what you can do to make meaningful shifts in your thinking or your behaviors.

I take an integrative / holistic approach to therapy, which means I emphasize various components of health, including: engagement with nature, movement practices, nutrition, sleep, and social connection to help you move towards a happier, healthier, more vibrant version of yourself. YOU define what that looks like, and we work together to make it a reality. Self compassion and non-judgment are key components of my work. I enjoy helping folks uncover and heal the roots of challenging thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so they can find joy in the life that they live according to their values.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Northern Illinois University. I then attended St. Xavier University where I earned my Masters Degree in Community Agency Counseling. Over the past 13 years in practice, I have worked in a wide array of organizations including: non-profits, residential facilities, and group private practices.

In my therapy practice, I draw from contemporary advances in the neuroscience of emotions and trauma to help clients better understand the mind-body connection and its utility in coping. I utilize trauma informed practices including DBT, CBT and ACT to help facilitate change. I always aim to bring major amounts of compassion to my sessions as well as my full authentic self.

I am committed to inclusiveness and providing a safe space for everyone. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming. I enjoy working with folks on improving their relationship with others and relationship with themselves. Any and all relationship structures are welcome in this space. My hope for all of my clients is to learn how to love themselves and one another better.

Outside of the office, you will find me: appreciating nature via hiking, running, climbing, kayaking, cooking new recipes, crafting something, hugging a tree (actually), reading psychological thrillers, snuggling my puppy, or seeking out new and weird foods and experiences-fellow foodies unite! I love spending time with my family and friends, as I believe human connection and memory making are precious gifts.
