Jessica Smith M.S.Ed, LPC, M.S

In life, it is easy to lose sight of who we are and the vision that we hold for our lives.  Things that never should have happened do, and we need to find a path forward.  Sometimes, we simply need coping techniques or a place to exist that is free of judgment.  Working together, we can create a plan to help you find the balance and the path forward that you are seeking.  We each deserve the opportunity to learn to tend to our mental and emotional health and starting at an early age is a gift that can be held for a lifetime.

I believe that my clients are the experts on their own lives.  I enjoy learning what that life looks like and working as a team to organize thoughts and ideas; and to dig to find the underlying beliefs and fears that can sometimes keep us stuck. I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches including CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Solution-Focused Therapy, Trauma Informed Therapy, and Strength Based Therapy.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Hearing Science from the University of Iowa and hold two Master’s degrees.  I received my first dual Master’s degree in Mental Health & School Counseling from Northern Illinois University.  My second Master’s degree is in School Leadership from The University of St. Francis in Joliet.  I have over 10 years working in the field of education with experiences ranging from preschool age through college undergraduates. In addition to private practice work, I am a high school level Behavior Interventionist and utilize restorative practices to assist students in their growth and development.  I specialize in working with individuals from 12-25 and I am interested in working with individuals at all ages who wish to improve their self-awareness and lead a more self-actualized life. When we know better, we can do better!
